We provide a PAINT, STAIN or OIL finish service for your new gates & doors
Our recommended finishing options for the different types of wood we offer are:
The choice of timber and finish on exterior wooden gates and doors will depend on whether you wish to leave the wood in its natural state or to add colour. Whilst Iroko, Oak, Cedar or Douglas Fir can be left to weather naturally, Sapele and Idigbo require a coating and are ideally suited for painting or staining with good adhesion properties.
Paints - We use a micro porous moisture permeable paint to allow the timber to breath keeping the moisture out of the timber but allowing the moisture in the wood to be released. Contains ultra violet (UV) filters to reduce sunlight damage Primer. Base coat and 2 top coats. We can 'colour-match' for you.
Stains - We use a water based environmentally friendly micro porous stain. 3 coats are applied - see here for swatches
Oils - We apply 3 coats of Teak Oil. Whilst cheaper, re-coating may need to be carried out every 3-4 months in extreme climatic areas to avoid the timber drying out.
