We minimise our impact, but we also ensure we do some good!
The climate is changing and extreme weather conditions are causing considerable concern around the world. Through more frequent droughts and elsewhere intense flooding, collateral damage, food shortages and disease are escalating. We want to do our bit.
We sponsor trees through sponsortrees.com because trees are the only means we have to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Each tree can absorb approximately 1,000kg of Co2 over their lifetime, and convert it into natural resources providing much needed nutrition, income and resources to desperate families. |

This year we will plant 10 trees for each gate made.
Sponsortrees.com favour community orientated tree planting projects in Africa and other developing countries, as they provide direct and indirect environmental benefits, whilst also helping local economies. Africa is the continent which has suffered most from climate change and was once predominantly forest similar to South America today.
Sponsor Trees have planted a range of trees supporting eco-system balance and bio-diversity. This also makes them sustainable and other benefits include preventing erosion from rain, retaining moisture in the ground, supporting surrounding growth and sheltering wildlife. Other not so obvious benefits include sheltering food crops from direct sunlight where they otherwise could not grow, and attracting bees with pollen to make honey etc for trading purposes. Trees provide a sustainable source of timber for boats, paper, guitars, beds, furniture, rakes and tools, as well as beads for jewellery, medicines from bark, glue, animal fodder, protein and bio-fuel etc. Fruit trees are also planted including Mango, Apple, Guava, Papaya, Avocado etc.
Trees are donated to each family, effectively sponsoring and supporting them with nutrition and the ability to develop their own sustainable incomes through trade and farming.
For every 5 trees planted in deforested areas, 15 are likely to grow back!
